Indovin PVC

Indovin is the brand name for suspension type Polyvinyl chloride resins, manufactured and marketed by IPCL adopting techinal know-how from Goen, USA  at its Vadodara complex (capacity : 55,000 MTA) and Gandhar complex (capacity : 150,000 MTA).
Indovin grades are charactersied by low residual VCM levels matching international standards. Futhermore, the computer-controlled process ensures consistency in the product quality. the helps to improve quality of PVC end products and use of Indovin in food contact and medical applications which require very clean resin. Grades as detailed below are available for varied applications.

PROPERTIES AND EFFECT OF INDOVIN GRADES ON END-USE APPLICATIONS

Indovin is the most versatile thermoplastic material capable of forming rigid or flexible products by suitable compounding.  Since PVC resin is the major ingredient in any formulation, its properties are the most improtant for cosnideration before use. With the latest resin technology, resin properties can be tailor-made to meet specific end-use requirements.  Properties such as inherent viscosity, apparent bulk density, porosity and particle size distribution affect the processing.  In the following sections, guidance is provided by explaining these critical properties of Indovin grades.

INHERENT VISCOSITY (IV) -
The molecular weight of any polymer is an important property and in case of PVC, it is expressed either as inherent viscosity (IV) or K-value. Higher the IV, higher would be the molecular weight and hence the mechanical properties will be processing machine.  It influences end-use properties like hoop-stress of pipes and impact strength of profiles.Inherent viscosity of each Indovin grade is maintained is very narrow range.

APPARENT BULK DENSITY (ABD) -
The apparent bulk density of PVC resin mainly depends on its morphology (i.e., internal & external structure) and particles size distribution. PVC should flow freely when being handled and should have spherical, compact grains that give it a high ABD.  However a certain porosity and large specific surface (puckered) is desirable for rapid intake of processing additives. Indovin Grades strike an optimum balance between the neeed for a high ABD and good absorption of additives.

POROSITY -
Porosity is an indicator of free space in the grain and ability of the grain and ablility of grain to absorb plasticizer.  High porosity  is desirable for flexible applications requiring high loading of plasticizers.  For rigid applications, a certain amount of porosity in the grain and consistency in the behaviour of the grades in absorbing additives is desirable. Indovin grades for rigid applications exhibit exacting porosity to absorb additives.Grades for flexible applications have sufficient porosity for high loading of plasticizers.

PARTICLE SIZE DISTRIBUTION (PSD) -
The distribution for the grain size is of great importance for a particlar processing technique. Normally, grains for rigid extrusions should measure 130-170 microns and for injection molding 115-135 microns.  The PSD is measured by sieve analysis.
Indovin's execullent particle size distribution and uniform grain porosity make it suitable for rapid plasticization and melt homogenization that produces extrudates with smooth, flawless surfaces.

PACKAGING :
Indovin grades are avaliable as free flowing powder in 25kg net weight bags. All the Indovin grades meet the requirements of Indian Standard IS : 10151 on "PVC and its copolymers for its safe use in contact with foodstuffs, pharmaceuticals and drinking water."
