| ARVIND
S. ATHALYE
A.S.
Athalye is closely associated with the
Plastics Industry, since his return from
the U.S.A. in 1960 after studying Plastics
Engineering and working with Dow Chemicals
Co. at Midland, Michigan, U.S.A. in their
Quality Control & Technical Service
Labs. Related to Polystyrene and ABS.He
headed the Technical Service Dept. and Applications
- Development Group of Polychem Ltd. and
Hoechst Dyes and Chemicals Ltd. in the period
1960-65, 1965-72 respectively for Polystyrene
(STYRON) and HDPE (HOSTALEN).

He worked
between 1972 and 1981 as a Project Manager
with the Thackersey Group for Diversification
covering in-house production of a variety
of products such as HDPE Woven Sacks, Leno
Sacks for Exports, Fibrillated Tapes for
Twines and Ropes, Blow Moulding Machines,
Inj-Moulded Technical Components mainly
for the Textile Mills, Inorganic Pigments,
Pigment Emulsions and Binders for Textile
Printing and Reactive Dyes. He also established
CSIR recognized R & D Centre, where
all of the above Products were developed
and commercialized. During this period,
he was a Director on the Board of various
Group Companies as well as those in the
Dilip Piramal Group including Blow Plast
Ltd.In the year 1981, he started his own
independent activity of Project Consultancy
in the field of Plastics and Packaging .
He has in the last 22 years serviced 68
clients at home and overseas, the speciality
being more than 50% of the clients had their
project for the first time in their country
and the scope of assignment covered from
identification of the project after an extensive
market study upto commissioning and developing
marketing group.
